The Arc of the Convenient – Is this Really the New Name for the Sony Motion Controller?

The new Sony Playstation Arc
Regular readers will be aware that here at Sony Insights we have been keeping a close eye on the Sony Motion Controller for the Playstation 3. A previous post reported that the release date of spring this year had been held back until the autumn, ensuring that the system will be ready and that the launch of the device will coincide with Microsoft’s launching of Project Natal.
At that time, the name of this new controller interface was still a mystery, rumours had been circulating that the device was to be labelled the “Sony Wand” although this seemed more like chatter in the blogosphere rather than a fact based upon any official information.
An official announcement however has still not materialised, that said, the wires are buzzing with the codename ‘Arc’. Rumours of this name had been in existence already, although the sources for the information were dubious at best. Now it seems that more concrete evidence has arisen that the Sony Motion Controller will be named the Arc. Sony has now registered the domain name PlaystationArc.com; this occurred last year and has now been creating rumours throughout the gaming industry.
Of course this could be subterfuge, it could be mere coincidence, it could simply be a very convenient way for Sony to keep the true name for the device a secret. Gamers and those involved in the gaming industry will simply have to wait until an official announcement materialises.

Looks like playstation fanatics here, I am a fan too and love to play video games… my girl says I play way too much, but man it’s so fun. I’ve been playing mw2 and among thieves: uncharted 2 for months and can’t stop! What would you guys recommend? In any case, looks like a good blog, is this blog engine? I’ve created a couple pages myself and it ain’t easy. Cheers for taking time to post.

Thanks for the great feedback, as you can tell we are also PS3 fans and love wiling away the hours playing video games …. despite what the missus says! A good selection of games you’ve got there, I don’t think anyone can fault mw2 for its ability to be a complete and utter time vampire. At Sony Insights we are enjoying a couple of great games at the moment, God of War is definitely worth a look for its impressive scale as is Street Fighter 4 if you fancy getting all competitive! Once again, cheers for the comments and happy gaming!
