Sony VAIO Offers Custom Laptop Creation to Customers

Regular readers will have seen the latest Sony E series VAIO notebooks that come in a range of funky colour combinations in a previous post. Now it seems that Sony is going to offer customers the chance to create their very own custom laptop, with a range of different modification options available on selected series’.

Labelled as “VAIO by you” custom options are available on CW, FW, SR, X, TT and Z series laptops to name a few. One of these options is laser engraving, customers will be able to personalise their VAIO notebook with a special message. Sony technicians will then etch a personal message onto the laptop, perfect for those who want a long lasting custom look that provides that truly individual touch. Read the rest of this entry »

Sony to Target the Tablet Market?

On the back of the iPad launch and of course the media throng that followed Apple’s latest device one of Sony’s bosses has commented that Sony are interested in entering the tablet computer market with a device of its own. At a news conference in Tokyo Nobuyuki Oneda, Sony’s Chief Financial Officer, responded to a question about the Sony position on tablet computers by stating “that is a market we are also very interested in”.

The closest device Sony offers at the moment to the iPad is the Reader, a range of devices specially designed to hold eBooks for convenient reading. To produce an iPad like device Sony would have to combine elements from the Reader, VAIO computers and its Walkman range in order to compete effectively with Apple. It is existing knowledge from these markets however that could lead to the production of an impressive and market leading device, a fact reinforced by Mr Oneda who stated that Sony  ”are confident we have the skills” to create such a product. Sony Unveil New VAIO E Series Entry Level Laptop

Sony unveiled the latest laptop in the VAIO family yesterday; the new E series. The E Series has been lined up as a replacement to the old NW Series and offers consumers an affordable VAIO laptop by Sony.

In terms of specs considering this is at the lower end of the Sony VAIO range the E series packs an impressive punch. An Intel Core i3 processor has been included as has an ATI Mobility Radeon 5000 series graphics module. Equipped with 500GB of hard disk and a HDMI output port as well as the numerous USB ports we come to expect from laptops today, effective connectivity is assured. There will be even be the option of a Blu Ray ROM drive to make the most of the 15.5 inch 1080p HD screen and an in-built webcam is also included. Read the rest of this entry »

Sony Brings Eco Friendly W Laptop to the Party

Sony has once again showed their commitment to eco friendly principles with one of their latest laptops the Sony VAIO Eco VPC-W212AX. Most computer experts will remark that this new eco laptop is essentially the same VAIO W Netbook already released, however it is important to remember that this is less about features and more about the ethos behind the laptop that makes it eco friendly.

One of the major appeals of this laptop is its green credentials. The chassis, complete with its pearlescent glow is in fact manufactured from twenty percent recycled CD and DVD cases. The carry case on the other hand has been manufactured using spent drinks bottles made from PET plastic. Both show that waste from society can have practical uses in the world of consumer electronics. A VAIO Bluetooth Mouse from Sony – Now there is no Reason to Leave the Sofa

Sony has always been one for combining the aspects of entertainment with functionality. One of the latest releases from the company has been the VAIO VGP-BMS80, a laser Bluetooth mouse that has dual functioning properties. The VGP-BMS80 is not only perfect for use in the office when using a VAIO notebook or desktop PC, but also equally at home in the living room.

This little handheld device can be used as a tabletop mouse or for those who like to relax, a handheld control for the VAIO computer and even their PS3. This dual functionality means that users can operate the mouse on a hard surface, such as a desk or table, perfect for the home office or even when travelling. Sony have been steadily rolling out a line of "signature collection" notebooks in recent times but it is the latest, New Sony VAIO Nebula FW that seems to have reviewers and retailers all hot under the collar. So what can be said about this new laptop? What have VAIO managed to produce here?

Sony have promised "out of this world design" with this model, this design goes beyond the stunning Nebula pattern on the case of the laptop, it carries through into the features and technology used within.
